Cold Laser Therapy in Gainesville

Elbow laser therapyAlso known as low-level light therapy, FDA-approved cold laser therapy is a therapeutic modality used to improve healing and blood flow to injured tissues. At KLS Chiropractic we use the ML830™ laser, manufactured by Microlight™.

How Does It Work?

The 830 model transmits light into injured tissues and stimulates healing, which instantly reduces pain. A low level light is emitted and can penetrate tissue up to 2 inches without being absorbed by the skin, blood, or fat. With this type of laser, heat is not generated, so it’s safe for use anywhere on the body. Once the photons pass through injured tissue cells, they stimulate and energize the cells to repair and strengthen at a very fast rate.

What Are Some Benefits?

“Considered avascular, discs don’t have much blood flow. If you don’t have blood flow, you don’t get oxygenation, and you don’t get the materials you need to heal,” said Dr. Lisa. The cold laser creates improved blood flow or circulation around discs, and oxygenation, which allow the nutrients to come in to allow the disc to heal. This treatment also helps reduce inflammation and relieve pain. Unlike most medication and traditional modalities, such as electric stimulation, ultrasound, heat and ice, this laser treatment doesn’t wear off, so when inflammation is reduced, it doesn’t come back.
